Roland of Gilead begins his torturous journey across the Great Desert of Midworld, following the Man in Black, who may have the key he needs to finding the Dark Tower - the center of all universes.
Roland will stop at nothing to reach the tower and climb to the top, reciting the names of those he has lost - nothing.
Equipped with perhaps a handful of items, the desert yawns before him. He may find friends along the way... surely he will find enemies... perhaps death? Life? If Ka wills it...

Midworld is a roguelike/jrpg hybrid, based on The Dark Tower and other works of fiction by Stephen King. There are hundreds of references to his movies, novels and short stories, including some of his works penned under the name Richard Bachman, and even some personal references. It is a passion project - I always wanted to make a Dark Tower game since it blew my mind from the very first book. The Dark Tower series is an epic homage to writing itself, so I have created this game as an homage to the epic writer himself.

* CHANGELOG DAY 1203*
~ Fixed Notes often spawning in default location.
~ Changed Roland's starting equipment to include up to 19 different items (including the Threaded Mule), mentioned in the intro of The Gunslinger. There is a 50 percent chance of receiving each, providing a random "difficulty level".
~ Added Corgis. These are items similar to the cats, but will cause certain scenery to spawn more. They will also leave each time the party sleeps.
~ Added Unliving and Ghost statuses; these are mutually exclusive, immortal statuses, both with individual pros and cons.
~ Added conditional encounters for every foe type. Some of these are benign and for flavor, others are actual battles, which can be ended conditionally.
~ Fixed Well sprite displaying incorrectly, due to Byrus being moved from Well to Outhouse.
~ Added Giant Hole and Abandoned Playground to Giant Features.
~ Fixed issues with changing vehicle/player sprites, where Roland would replace the Train sprite.
~ Removed code that was causing Trashcan Man and Shardik to rubberband back to the middle of the map; the other objects in the same section (cats, things, and notes) do not need to move.
~ Added Sand-choked stairs to Containers Interior.
~ Added Mousetrap to Containers Interior. Causes a random event (usually negative) to happen to Roland.
~ Fixed running into cats or notes while a course is set forces you to pick them up; set course just stops now.
~ Changed the Stop the train/Stop the bus/Answer a riddle dialogues to include the number of Wheels traveled, like the Set Course dialogue.
~ Changed Bus Wreck sprite back to the same as normal Bus, to keep standard with Train and Blaine sprites.
~ Added The Good the Bad and the Ugly Theme and The Ecstacy of Gold tracks. These play rarely, at noon or midnight, respectively.
~ Replaced music tracks with better cover versions.
~ Fixed Skoldpadda always spawning in the default location.
~ Fixed Outhouse glitch when defeating Byrus.
~ Fixed graphical glitch due to parts of some scenery being used as characters in Tull.
